Project Summary:
- Design of entire project, architectual drawings, interior designs and landscaping
- Gain planning permission to convert this 1880 barn into a residential dwelling
- Add owl and bat boxes to site to protect and encourage local species
- Safe demolition of dangerous parts of the building
- Removal of asbestos
- Without taking down barn,
- add foundations
- renovate existing timber frame and modify for new openings
- Add internal self supporting steel frame
- Add new foundations to garage and kitchen
- Re roof including elecrtic and solar Velux
- Use of Kingspan agricultural cladding for kitchen and garage roofs
- New Aluminum windows and large curtain walling
- Concrete flooring with underfloor heating throughout
- New electircs, plumbing and heating systems
- New drainage, bio tank and gas tank installation
Materials and techniques utilised:
- Speaking at Parish and local planning comittee meetings
- Research into traditional methods and materials
- Source reclaimed bricks and other materials
- Design of steel framing to look like its always been there.
Current Status
- Main project completed, final landscaping and additional double garage build underway
